What can I do if my Greece visa application is rejected?

If your Greece visa application is rejected, you can reapply after addressing the reasons for rejection outlined in the visa refusal letter. Greece visa applications are generally rejected due to the following reasons:

  • Incorrect information: Inaccurate details on your application, such as misspelt names or mismatched passport numbers, can lead to automatic rejections. Even minor discrepancies can raise red flags.

  • Unclear purpose of travel: If your travel purpose is vague, it may lead to doubts about your intentions. For example, suppose you indicate tourism as the reason for travel but fail to provide sufficient details about your planned activities.

  • Insufficient proof of ties to your home country: Visa officers want assurance that you will return to your home country after your visit. A lack of compelling evidence, such as stable employment, property ownership, or family connections, may lead to concerns that you might overstay your visa.

  • Lack of sufficient funds: You must demonstrate your ability to financially support yourself during your stay in Greece. Inadequate documentation of your financial resources will result in rejection.

  • Previous visa violations: Any history of visa violations, such as overstaying a previous Schengen visa or breaching immigration rules, impacts your chances of obtaining a new visa, as it raises concerns about your reliability and intentions.

Alternatively, you can appeal the decision within 30 days of the rejection date. You can write a compelling appeal letter explaining why your visa should be granted, along with attaching relevant documentation.
